Amish built furniture, constructed from solid wood and assembled by hand, The Woodpecker started in 1990 by two talented Amish carpenters, Paul Wagler and Calvin Jantzi. Paul was born and raised here in the Aylmer area community and Calvin hails from the Milverton area when his parents moved here in 1978. The Woodpecker, a successful Mennonite furniture store, can also custom make furtniture orders, and recently expanded to a new building in 2009. The Amish community in Malahide thrives with 4 Amish schools and many various local businesses.
The quilt block, “Carpenter’s Square”, is a fun reflection of the work needed to build these beautiful hand crafted pieces of art.
Please respect the Amish beliefs – no Sunday sales and no pictures of the people.
